Several placer areas occur in the lowlands bordering the northeast edge of the property and suggest unexposed lode sources. A breached pingo cut by lower Any Creek (Figure 1) exposes gravel and boulder alluvium, including silicified schist and quartz porphyry. Gold can be panned from the gravel and a line of old prospect shafts is found just upstream. Samples of porphyry assayed nil to 930 ppb gold.

On lower Sargent Creek a long-forgotten placer operation, perhaps 1930s era, developed a drift mine operation along 600-800 feet on the left limit of the creek. Bunkhouses, shops and hoisting equipment remain at the site (Figure 7). Similar to Any Creek, tailings contain mixed schist and intrusive rock. Prindle, in 19139, reported that placer exploration shafts sunk to bedrock near the confluence of Our and Any Creeks encountered schist and rusty-colored granitic rock.

Elsewhere across the lower elevations, frozen loess conceals all colluvium and bedrock. Due to the presence of porphyry in the gravel at these sites, it is assumed that an unmapped east-northeast trending porphyry system occurs nearby.

Top-of-bedrock sampling with a track-mounted auger drill to penetrate frozen overburden along a northwest fence of sites east of Any Creek is recommended.
